Just imagine that you’re drowning theme park visitors instead of whatever it is you’re doing at work today...

How i miss that theme, recent RCT posts have put a bug in my head, I wanna play now! Which one is the best to play?
I will have to hold off till after my kitchen remodel though, haha. It’ll be my reward.

I never played any of them other than the first, but I have to say there’s nothing really wrong with starting there.

I think one of the iterations has an open source or enthusiast version out there, or something.

Avoid the most recent- Rollercoaster Tycoon World. Planet Coaster was developed by the original developers, and is much better.

I see your RTC1 soundtrack and raise you a TT 2014 Sessions cover.

Probably the first. I seem to recall the coding and data handling being very simple and straightforward, mostly having been the work of an auteur doing a lot of the programming himself.
Another game that was supposed to be very open and hackable back in the day was X-Wing Alliance, which I only know because some 10-15 years ago a second-cousin was very into doing model upgrades.

You can get it for android/ios now. There’s an open RCT, plus a patch to install and run it on windows 10. can’t seem to find the link.

Is the android version relatively free of ads and pay-to-play type stuff? Because that would be perfect for bathroom breaks at work.

I think it’s $5 or $6, there’s no free option. I had some play store survey credit so I didn’t pay anything. It’s entirely worthwile. There’s almost 100 different park scenarios.

I’m willing to pay that for sure, I have like $40 in play store credit from surveys. As long as that’s where the paying stops.

$5 or 6 for the game and $5 or 6 for the expansion that gets you the park scenario editor and the ride designer, plus ability to import old save files and rides from the PC version of the game.

There are no ads.

Sold! If you like sim city-ish games, I’ve found “Theotown” to be the best one, if you are interested.

It’s highly addicting! I’ve been playing for months and they’ve updated it significantly since I started playing at the beginning of summer.
It isn’t too hard, even on hard mode, if you start out with a logical balance of res/ind/com you’ll grow a city just fine. But it does get really fun as you start attracting high income residents, and start building pretty cities with beaches and parks and little boats! :P

Did you happen to see my post about how they ported the game to Android and iOS?

That game was my shit in elementary.
Thank you Scholastic.
And I do not apologize to the people I killed. And fuck all the people who thought my park was too expensive.

I did. I must see if I can put it on my Kindle Fire.

You might have to download the APK and sideload it, Amazon handpicks their own app store and not all android apps are available.
